Afrin residents react to a Turkish operation launched nearly a week ago in a bid to oust the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) from an enclave in northern Syria.

Turkey laucnhed an operation in Syria's Afrin region against the YPG terror group. FSA fighters backed by Turkish soldiers, have made gains in the north. Most of the fighting is now concentrated in the Basraya mountains - near Azaz. It's where the Turkish military says three of its soildiers have been killed. Turkish forces say they have killed at least 260 YPG fighters. Global reactions from Russia, Iran, UK, and the US have been mixed.

Global reactions to Turkey's operation in Afrin against the YPG have so far been mixed, as Omer Kablan explains.

Turkey continues to attack Kurdish militia in the northern Afrin region. Footage from private broadcaster Haberturk showed an explosion in the area, followed by plumes of smoke billowing into the sky. However, Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the region said the Turkish army had falsely claimed there was an Islamic State presence there. The SDF accused Turkey of trying to mislead global opinion.
