Ruptly: 'Trust crisis' between US, Turkey as both make demands to each other. Washington has accused Turkey of de-stabilizing northern Syria, after Ankara announced it's extending its military operation closer to positions held by US troops in the region. Turkey's operation began last week and is targeting Kurdish militias. Some of the groups are considered terrorists by Ankara - but allies by Washington. The US State Department has described what is happening in northern Syria as - "a shame".

PBS: In our news wrap Thursday, the United States pressed Turkey to call off its assault on Kurdish forces in northwest Syria. Turkey warned that some 2,000 U.S. troops could become targets. Also, China promised to work with the U.S. on cutting the flow of illegal opioids to American dealers after U.S. Senate investigators found Chinese sellers are largely able to circumvent package checks by the U.S.

Ruptly: Erdogan vows to advance offensive in Syria to Manbij. The Turkish president has announced a plan to extend his country's military operation against Kurdish forces in Syria. Turkish troops are currently fighting the YPG in Afrin, and will now advance to Manbij, an area controlled by U.S.-backed Kurdish fighters.

TRT World: The Turkish military announced it launched Operation Olive Branch in Syria's northwestern Afrin on Saturday. Turkey says the objective is to clear Afrin of the YPG/PKK.

TRT World: Turkey begins an operation against YPG in Syria. Some breaking news coming into us now. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan says the military operation in Syria has de-facto begun. Shelling of YPG positions in Afrin has continued, but there are no reports yet of Turkish ground forces entering the area. Erdogan says there are also plans to take over Manbij, further east towards the Euphrates River.
