Turkey and Russia agreed on a demilitarized zone in Idlib to avert a new Syria crisis. The zone will separate the rebel stronghold from regime held areas, and allow Turkish and Russian troops to patrol the area.

The leaders of Turkey and Russia have agreed to create a demilitarised zone around Syria's opposition and rebel-held province of Idlib that will come into effect by October 15. Turkish and Russian soldiers will be patrolling the zone to ensure it is respected.
